I guess one shouldn’t utter the words Mecca & gay in the same sentence, huh? Oh well, what the heck, I just did- “so sue me” as Obama says.
Sitges, known as the Saint Tropez of Spain, is a small city (2013 population 29,140) twenty minutes south of Barcelona by train right on the Mediterranean (Mar Mediterrania), where we’re spending 3 days before we’re able to get into our apartment in Barcelona.
Is that gorgeous or what? Actually we visited Sitges the last time we were here maybe 7 or 8 years ago. That time it was purely accidental, we happened upon it after a day of driving & site seeing when it was time to hunker down for the day. Thinking he might just shock us, the guy at the reception desk where we decided to stay told us Sitges had the 3rd biggest gay population after San Francisco and Sydney, Australia. Per capita however, I have to differ. Sitges seems to have more gay men especially, than either SF or Sydney.
But hey what do we care? We’ve always said if you wanted a decorator, fashion coordinator, cook or whatever, we’d select from the best of any gay population because they just excel in these things. And don’t get all PC on me (you know how I hate that sh*t, and it’s true. And that’s why we decided to come back to the same place we’ve already been. The shops & restaurants are so cute & unique, to say nothing of the truely interesting people-watching opportunies. By the way, the food is pretty fantastic too. Crispy fried sardines & calamari with ‘ron y cola’ (rum & coke) for our before nap pupu today!
Okay, that’s all for now.
