Ex-Speaker of the House Boehner acted like he was doing the country and Paul Ryan a favor by the debt-laden budget cooked up between he and Nobama. But not only does it give Obama everything he wants for his last 13 months in office; suspended debt ceiling till March 2017 and a dollar for dollar increase in domestic spending (like food stamps & welfare spending for illegals & Muslim refugees etc.), for every dollar spent on the military, it will also raise the deficit to 20 trillion. And we thought Republicans were all about less spending.
But not so much any more and this is why Trump & Carson are where they are. They aren’t lying politicians.
-But back to my topic. According to Judicial Watch, a federal audit last year revealed that the U.S. spent an eye-popping $3.1 billion during a three-year period on salaries for government employees on paid administrative leave. At least 57,000 workers were on paid administrative leave during the period analyzed and around 4,000 stayed home with full salary for three months to a year. The scary part is that this particular audit only considered five agencies so the GAO’s report only features a snippet of the true problem.
You may recall Lois Lerner was placed on paid administrative leave for several months after her cute testimony where she pled the 5th in the IRS scandal. She is now retired with full benefits and has been exonerated by the IRS. Also not included in the GAO figures was the Dept of Homeland Security (you know the TSA goons that grope you at the airport) which spent about $1.8 million last year to keep 88 employees on paid leave.
Here’s how it works. You gotta know from the outset no government worker ever gets fired. There are long and convoluted administrative actions and investigations for alleged misconduct, security threats, criminal conduct or adverse actions.
Not surprisingly, there is no government wide policy (or oversight!) on paid administrative leave. The office of Personnel Management (OPM) supposedly is trying to reign in the abuses and institute a government-wide policy just as soon as they figure out (after the fact) how protect government employees’ records private or protected from Chinese hackers. Ha-ha-ha!
