Sick & Tired Of Carrying Dead Wood & Paying For It Too

May 27, 2018

There’s need for big-time reform in the federal government,  but one of the biggies for me is civil service reform and President Trump is chipping away at it. Next the states who are all being bled to death by public sector unions should follow suit. Don’t get me wrong, the unions had their place in our history but they have grown to big and too powerful and too costly both fiscally and to our liberty. If you think I am using hyperbole in saying that public sector unions are costing us our liberty you are not paying attention.

Nowhere in our US Constitution is authorization given to the massive unelected, unaccountable 4th branch of government, the federal bureaucracy, the administrative state and yet they make most of the laws today, they mete out massive fines and even jail terms to any who may go cross-ways to their intention. We didn’t elect they, we cannot get rid of them. They remain in place no matter who wins an election and operate seemingly free from any punishment or harm.

Trump promised to drain the swamp and he’s keeping his word. According to the Washington Examiner the President signed three executive orders Friday containing sweeping reforms that weaken protections for federal workers and eliminate perks for the unions that represent them.

This is what Trump accomplished in these EOs:

  1.  From now on unions will be charged rent for federal office space
  2. Unions will not be reimbursed for travel expenses or for hours spent appealing worker firings
  3. Going forward, federal workers must spend 75 percent of their time on government work (WTF did you ever get away with that kind of job performance?)
  4. Federal agencies must publicly post union contracts in an online repository
  5. No longer will leniency for one worker set a precedent protecting others (an Obama era policy) from firing, and going forward there will be shortened review periods preceding discipline for poor-performing employees

Unfortunately President Trump has had to go the executive order route because Congress has failed once again to act as our representatives in this matter. In fact, I’d go as far as to say they like turning this part of their job over to the bureaucracy. Then they don’t have to take the heat from their constituents, they can blame everything on faceless, nameless pencil-pushers & bean-counters.

Another Poison Pill By Our Outgoing President

January 1, 2017

Happy New Year! Trump has proposed a federal hiring freeze to reduce the federal workforce through attrition. When someone quits or retires they will not be replaced. The theory is that there are too many federal employees (more than in US manufacturing jobs) costing taxpayers too much in dead wood.

pornBored federal employees at the EPA, the SEC and others have so much leisure time on their hands they spend hours a day engaging in online porn. It got so bad an inspector general investigation was launched. And the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee actually passed the “Eliminating Pornography from Agencies Act”. You can’t fire federal civil service employees so what was their solution? Put them on paid administrative leave, why of course. Adding insult to injury the offending employees were paid an average of $120,000 per year.

Everybody knows this stuff (heard about “rubber rooms in the public schools?) goes on and has for eons but finally we have a president who promises to put a stop to it. So what are the corrupt Democrats doing to make it hard for Trump to instigate these overdue changes? According to The American Thinker the Obama Administration has cancelled holiday vacation (what used to be called ‘Christmas’ vacation) time for HR staff and they are hiring as many new staff as they can, and promoting existing employees before Obama leaves office. Several federal agencies are accelerating hiring to thwart President-elect Donald Trump’s promised hiring freeze and this is after the Obama transition team promised no more hiring after Dec 1.

Face it guys, they do not want this new president to succeed in any way, hence the Israeli slap in the face, the Russian hacking sanctions and the fake news that Hillary would have won if it were not for the Ruskies interfering in our election.

What’s the answer? Civil Service reform. When you cannot fire ineffective, dishonest or corrupt (the deadly shenanigans at the VA are just one example), something is not right.
