What A Gun-Control Utopia Looks Like

January 8, 2016

Ah yes, “common sense gun control”. Who doesn’t want that? Well like it or not, it’s a done deal at least until a new president takes a ‘Mr. Clean Magic Eraser‘ to President Obama illegal, unconstitutional executive orders, as Trump & Cruz have promised to do. But here’s the reality to these common sense gun control measures just enacted.

You might think if the President were really concerned about our safety he would secure the border. You might also think if he were serious he would stop releasing ‘gun felon’ offenders out of prison. You might think if he were serious the Justice Dept would enforce gun laws on the books instead of supplying guns to criminals and drug dealers in Mexico as they did in Fast & Furious. Or you might think the Obama administration would shut down the porous Visa program in which 40% of the people granted visas to enter the U.S. overstay and are never accounted for. Or you may think the left-tards would not be so ignorant as to let thousands of Middle Eastern refugees into the country when the FBI Director James Comey flat-out admits thorough background checks are impossible on these people.

Does this sound like a man who is serious about making Americans safer? Not no, but hell no!

Hyatt Hotels Can’t Get A Union Vote!

March 28, 2011

Hey what’s wrong with this picture? A hotel chain, actually 4 hotels in the Hyatt chain (Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco; Long Beach; Santa Clara, and Indianapolis, Indiana) made the unusual request to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), “Please let’s vote” -but they were denied!

What’s odd here is normally ‘Big Labor’ targets a company for unionization, not the other way around. But the heavy hand of the union, in this case, Unite Here has carried out a harassment campaign for over 2 years on the Hyatt workers by showing up at their homes, following them to public places, harassing and pressuring them to support unionization. They have repeatedly called Hyatt’s clients pushing for a boycott. Unite Here doesn’t want to hold secret ballots, which is the law that currently protects workers from being publicly pressured to vote in favor of unionization. They want management to agree to open balloting.

Note the signs - "Legalization for All" and "Amnesty Now", etc

The controversial Card-check (Employee Free Choice Act) has so far failed to become law, despite Democratic and union efforts to get it through, and until it does union votes must be secret unless management agrees otherwise. Where’s the free choice when secret balloting is removed?

So Hyatt finally said basically, “OK, let’s have the vote and settle once and for all, do our workers want to be unionized?” Union controlled NLRB denied the request leaving the Hyatt Hotel chain reviewing its options and Hyatt workers still being harassed to support the union as they try to go about their lives. WTF?

We need to be ever vigilant regarding any reemergence of the “Employee Free Choice Act”, including their tricky “work-around” back-door regulations accomplishing the same thing without Congressional approval, or even executive orders signed in the dark of night.

Click this link if you’d like to see a map of those states with forced unionism. We’ve got to turn this around to get ever get the economy really going again.

Beware the Executive Order

February 16, 2010

Congress becomes more and more a “null set” (finally my high school algebra kicks in!). First it started with the Czars, appointed by the President with no vetting or background checks, no congressional approval but plenty of independent power and oh yes, big old fat salaries. I’m guessing far above the average federal salary of $71,200.

Now it’s Executive Orders. Here’s how it works. Whenever the President wants what he can’t get passed by this dis-functional Congress (or the US Supreme Court, as demonstrated during his recent State of the Union Address, for heaven’s sake) he will use his Executive Order privilege. As Paul Begala, advisor to President Clinton once said,

“Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Pretty cool.”

And from the Conservative Caucus, the Donnelly Collection of Presidential Executive Orders rightly proclaims,

“Presidential Executive Orders and Proclamations are legal documents and unconstitutionally held to have the same effect as laws. The Constitution grants legislative powers only to Congress, and Congress and the courts have never reclaimed these powers. “

Don’t get me wrong, this abuse of executive power has been going on for a long time by, but here’s some of what has already transpired under Obama and what we’re likely to see coming down the pike:

  • President Obama reinstated the ‘pay as you go’ budget rules. Sounds good, make Congress pay for what it spends, but it also lifts the amount the US can borrow from foreign countries by $1.9 trillion!
  • An EO signed in Oct ’09 by Obama sets sustainability goals for Federal agencies. It laid groundwork to force greenhouse gas emission regulation in case there was no consensus at Copenhagen -which there wasn’t. The EPA is moving forward to cap emissions right now.
  • Obama just threatened to use his recess appointment power forcing Congress to confirm 27 stalled presidential appointee nominations.
  • Obama will form a bipartisan budget commission under his own authority after Congress refused to do so.
  • Pelosi etal, have signaled they will pass bits and pieces of the health care reform anyway they have to -“over the fence, around the fence, by parachute-whatever it takes”.
  • Finally the more whimsical most likely a CYA move, the “Half Day Closing” signed Dec 11, 2009 allows all executive branch departments and agencies of the Federal Government a half-day work schedule on December 24th.

Don’t forget -vote ’em out!
