The Taylor Act was passed just this past March. It was named for the West Point graduate Taylor Force, who served both in Afghanistan & Iraq. Force who was visiting Israel as part of a Vanderbilt University study group when he was he was caught up in a terror attack and killed. The legislation was part of a large (aren’t they all?) bill to stop American economic aid to the Palestinian Authority until the PA changes its laws to cease paying stipends & rewards funneled through the Palestinian Authority Martyr’s Fund to individuals who commit acts of terrorism and to the families of deceased terrorists.
But like everything the government does, there were loopholes for instance the Taylor Act was not to affect the budget that the United States provides to the Palestinian Authority’s security and intelligence forces. But thankfully President Trump has found another source of money going to the Palestinian Authority and has decided to cut more than $200 million for projects in the West Bank and Gaza (hat-tip American Thinker).
The PA and Hamas already suspended talks with the US in the wake of the opening of our Jerusalem embassy, but this additional cut of $$ Trump is using as a way of telling them that their old strategy isn’t working anymore. None the less (from Breitbart.com) the newly appointed head of the PLO Commission of Prisoners vows to continue ensuring that terrorists and their families receive a monthly stipend. One mother of seven terrorist has so far received a staggering $1million through the “Pay-for-Slay” scheme. Obviously the govt is collecting too much from us in taxes if can still waste money like this.
